This training will prepare participants in the setup and usage of Construct API along with building a sample web application and functionality in C#.

Course Objectives

At the end of Introduction to Construct API, attendees should have an understanding, examples, and resources for:

• Create an application entry

• Authenticate using Construct API

• Retrieve CAP data

• Update CAP data

• Manage admin account for own agency

• Best practices for testing APIs

• Using API documentation

• Troubleshooting Construct API

• Build a simple web application using C#

• Integrating authentication into the web application

• Processing transactions through Construct API (updating ASI, adding a contact, scheduling an inspection) via the web application

Class Technical Requirements

Each participant needs a Civic Platform environment for exercises with training materials data manager loaded. Each user will need a text editor (recommended Visual Studio Code) and a tool for using REST web sites, such as Postman. Strongly recommend using Postman as all examples are with this tool.
